Our Report
BRO’s tips of the week:
The Blackfoot was already iced over in many stretches, a situation that will only worsen with highs in the single digits and lows below zero over the weekend. It’s a good idea to look elsewhere for your winter fishing.
7 day outlook:
Lows down to -15 degrees this weekend are expected through Monday, and the area won’t climb above freezing until next weekend.
Our recommendations for techniques and patterns:
When the Blackfoot warms up a little, nymphing will be the most effective way to fish. Try a TJ Hooker, Hot Bead San Juan, Rubber Legs, or Wooly Bugger with a smaller option like a Jig PT or Zebra Midge to increase your odds. Spanish Bullets, Frenchies, Prince Nymphs, Duracells, Two-Bit Hookers, Dunnigan’s Panty Dropper, Fire Starters, and Perdigons will also hunt.
For streamers, try a Kreelex, Bugger, Lil Kim, or Precious Metals fished slowly.
